Kim Lawson

Kim joined the firm in July 2019 and primarily practices in the area of Family and Criminal Law. With 10 years of experience as a solicitor, Kim is not afraid to advocate passionately for her clients in order to achieve the best possible outcome.

Kim grew up in regional NSW and this has instilled in her a caring, practical and down to earth attitude and view on life. This coupled with her strong work ethic allows her to be able to think outside the box to help her clients negotiate arrangements that meets their personal needs and works for them. In this respect Kim understands that when clients come to her, they are often going through a very emotional, stressful and difficult time in their lives and as such Kim takes pride in being able to help her clients through this period as easily and painlessly as possible.

After completing her Bachelor of Science (Forensics)/Bachelor of Laws at Newcastle University in 2007, Kim commenced her legal career in Canberra, ACT in 2009 after completing an 18-month gap year in England. She then relocated back to the sun and beaches of Newcastle in 2013 and regularly appears in the Federal Circuit Court of Australia, Family Court, and the NSW Local Court, as well as representing clients at mediation and Legal Aid Family Dispute Resolution Conferences.

Kim is now also in the process of completing her Master of Applied Family Law and is working towards obtaining specialist accreditation in Family Law.

Outside of work Kim enjoys reading, cooking, swimming and going to the gym. However, her real passion is travel and she always in the midst of planning her next holiday.
